Is there a veterans preference for hiring professors at the Naval Academy? Are most of the civilian professors Navy veterans?

The Professors are federal employees, so the normal veterans preference that exists for federal hiring probably applies. However from my experience, most of the civilian professors are not veterans. There are many in the Leadership and Ethics department, but not so much in the others. Most of the civilian professors are fairly young and have doctorates from the Ivies/MIT/Stanford/schools of that caliber. I had one professor that spent some time as an enlisted soldier in the Army, but left a long time ago and entered Academia. It's much easier to go teach at the Academy as an active duty military member than it would be as a veteran. Even permanent military professors have difficulty getting rehired as civilians when their military service commitment runs out.
