This AM son informed us yesterday he submitted preliminary app for 2015. To say the least we were surprised after the TWE disappointment. He said "can't quit on your goals" and that was it. On to NROTC and we will see what happens. My bet is he will love plan B and NROTC and not want to change.

With a year of college/NROTC, I'm thinking next year's wait will not include anxious mailbox stalking, DoDMerb checking, phone call screening and forum watching. Well maybe a little!

grtkidmom - your son has the "right stuff"! Good luck to him - he will be very successful whichever path he takes! :thumb:

grtkidmom- I also received my TWE from the USNA :frown::eek:. Prelim app for class of 2015 has been submitted. I will spend a year at U of Nebraska involved in NROTC and preparing for USNA. I am anxious to find out what kept me from a USNA appointment (triple Q'd with 3 noms). The feedback I receive from my BGO/RGO hopefully will assist with the 2015 process (will try and wait until late May to contact them). I hope I do not get a "We don't know why you did not get an appointment" type feedback answer, which is the response I received regarding the NROTC scholarship. Hopefully your son and I will be on The Yard July 2011 together complaining with the rest of the plebes.

Son submitted prelim app last night - here we go again! Though the process isn't nearly so intimidating the second time around. No DoDMERB stress, he's not taking the SAT's again, and no ROTC or other college apps to worry about.

I am reapplying too. On the app, for highest education would we put college, since we will be attending college next year?

Son decided to put high school, with anticipated grad date of this year, since that's the highest level he'll have completed. In the remarks section he explained he was reapplying and would be at VT in the Fall.

DS said he put HS on prelim app. In additional remarks section he submitted his 2014 candidate number and explained he is attending college this fall with NROTC Scholarship.

I agree second time around will be less stressful on all fronts. Especially since I am convinced DS will really enjoy "regular college" and the NROTC experience. DS also said " this time no one will know or care if I have heard anything". Like all TWE'ers, it is difficult to explain how top notch successful kids get denied. But, life is full of disappointments and we all move on.

Good luck to all, and most importantly immerse yourself in college and enjoy the experience.

Got to love Nebraska. Are you from here?
