Hi guys,
Just looking for some advice on my junior year classes for HS.
I cannot take AP chem or AP physics until senior year which I know USNA likes. So for junior year I can either take regular chem or physics, or AP environmental science. Any advice? Will it make a big difference? (I’m also taking AP calc senior year)

Take Chemistry. AP Chem was personally the hardest AP class I took out of the eleven throughout my tenure in high school. An extra year of chem before hand will definitely help you out senior year when you are also talking other APs.

Chem all the way. Do well in chem and you’ll demonstrate that you can handle what’s sometimes called “The Plebe Killer”.

DD was a Chem wiz — so much that she thought about majoring in it. Validated Chem 1, skipped Chem 2, jumped to Modern Chem. And struggled mightily in the latter. And that was after acing AP Chem!

And she would tell you: Take as much Chem as you can in high school. USNA will look favorably upon it, and should you get in, you’ll be thankful.

Regular Chem + AP Physics is better than APES + AP Chem *or* AP Phys. Get both the hard subjects even if you have to discount one spoonful of AP glitter.

If you’re going to dismiss one spoonful of AP glitter, I’m guessing most Mids would say dismiss AP Physics in favor of AP Chem (but in either case, dismiss AP ES).
