Class of 2010 acceptances

There is no VMI Class of 2014 until Breakout. I wouldn't advertise as being a member of a class that does not exist. When you become a Rat, you will be a part of the Rat Mass of 2011+3. You have to earn the right to be the Class of 2014. This is kind of a big deal at VMI.

yeah whenever i tell people i say accepted into the class of 2014, just like it says on the certificate they mailed me, not part of the class of 2014. hope that one's okay, just because I don't think anyone will get Rat Mass of 2011+3

As the acceptance time starts to get underway-Just a word of caution to those of you who have been accepted and are planning on attending VMI; The Citadel, Norwich et al... First off Congratulations. Secondly- while I wouldn't be overly stressed about using the term "class of 2014" to others who ask - be careful on what and how you participate on facebook pages dedicated to the incoming Rat; Knob ; Rook; classes of 2014. Too much pre-arrival self advertising is not something that I would advise. Truthfully- the optimal way to arrive at one of these schools is anonymously at least as far as the upper class is concerned. You want to become known for what you do when you get there- not be a target before you ever show up. So while it is naturally exciting - I suggest you keep your facebook groups relatively low key. You will get the chance to meet your future classmates when you go to STP (Summer Transition Program at VMI) or the equivalent at one of the other SMCs. It's one thing to post asking questions about academic or physical preparation - but talking smack about how you will eat the system up is a good way to ensure that a difficult first couple of months becomes really difficult. So my advice- use some discretion:rolleyes:

Well said. A very diplomatic suggestion, and one which will be infinitely helpful to the newbies.
