Class of 2013 CBT is OVER!!!!!!

whew! beast is over! and reorgy week hasn't even been that bad. congrats to everybody for getting through it. I'm in Hotel 2 now...Go Happy Deuces!

Personally I really wanted to see our motto be Class of 2013 "So fresh, So clean!"

Yes, "So fresh, So clean" is exactly what ya'll were like after sleeping in the rain before your 14 mile march back. I heard that the crowd greeting ya'll knew you when were close because they could smell you first. :yllol:

It rains 24/7 here especially if you are doing something outside...it started pouring during the A-Day rehearsal about an hour ago and still is. :unhappy:

rain, rain go away

Ha ha - but you learned you will not melt. However, your weapon might need a little extra attention after all that rain.

AF, You will learn to love to complain about drill.......we are here to listen. Believe me some of us know how to take it.

Nothing like the weather in West Point! lol

I've been there when it snowed one day, next day was 75 degrees and the day after it was 34 and sleet all day... I grew up a few miles south and you just get used to it. One thing to remember, when it's nice in West Point, there is no better place in the world!

AF, Icelander, and eTaylor -- great to see you all back!! Congrats on your accomplishments!! We need Beast stories!

Maximus -- you aren't kidding about the weather. The old adage "If youdon't like the weather wait a half hour and it will change" certainly fits at WP. However, nothing like sitting outside above the Husdon on a cool early summer morning with a cup of coffee and thinking how glorious it is!!

Well first I would like to praise Odin that drill was canceled and curse Loki that our SAMI got moved up to tomorrow night.

Anyway on to Beast stories. I would like to preface this story with the fact that this guy is in fact a really neat person, he just spaces out sometimes. I still have the utmost respect for him because he is in pretty much all advanced courses and even validated IT105 already.

So this guy had the tendency to forget things a lot. One morning in particular he kept on forgetting things, so he is in his room getting the last of his stuff on and our squad leader walks up to the door and sees my squadmate. My squad leader yells at him "Get the lead out of your pants New Cadet _____!" Upon hearing this, my squadmate gets a puzzled look on his face and proceeds to start frantically patting down his pants in an attempt to find the lead. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen and it fortunately put a smile on our squad leader's face.

BTW our squad leader was never a mean or angry person, it was just taking everyone a little longer than usual to get ready that morning so he was a little annoyed already.

leave for plebes

I know they say plebes only have Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break leave. But do they get any "town" leave or "weekend" leave? If so how much approx. -- I am sure it depends somewhat on the company or plebe.

We have walking privileges over weekends, depending on what type of weekend it is. That basically means we can walk around Highland Falls and a little bit to the south. As Plebes we also get one Off Post Privileges (OPP) pass per semester which allows us to go anywhere within a 75 mile radius of West Point. You can earn more OPP passes for various accomplishments as well. There are also Spirit Passes which allow you to travel to an away sports game, but you have to provide your own transportation there and back.

I actually just got back off of walking privileges after walking around Highland Falls and stopping at the PX. I am sooooooooooo glad my parents were smart enough to buy me a box fan the day before A-Day, because the PX completely sold out of them yesterday.

On weekends we can go to High Land Falls. As long as there is no training and we're not in any trouble.

Was beast 2009 what you new plebes expected? Harder or easier? What was most challenging? What was easier? What part did you enjoy the most? What was the biggest lesson?
