Okay Folks, as suggested by ShutterbugC (thanks for the reminder!) here is a thread where all the links to various pictures for the Class of 2015 Indoc can be compiled.

If you see a new picture link please add it to the thread and I will then copy and paste to this first post!

Here we go!!!

**Special credit to deepsea for the vast trove of waterfront pictures!***

Thanks from the parents of 2015. I am sure they will really appreciate it.

Thank you. Also for parents of the class of 2015 I have set up a page on FB for us - Parents & Family of the USMMA Class of 2015.

I would like to meet M/N Antonelli when I go to Parent's Weekend and shake the boy's hand. Probably give him a hug, too. I wonder if one of his officer's duties is taking pics for the parent's liason office or public affairs or something like that? Anyway, love his pics!!

Deepsea, thanks for posting all the waterfront photos and allowing the candidates to smile. It is a huge contrast from the photos I was browsing through ( where i finally found my Waldo) with them all in formation. I have been trying to decide if DS looked like he was going to hurl or if he was trying to scowl while standing there. Then I realized every single kid had the same expression. Did they rip apart a puppy in front of them? Or standing and marching for hours in the heat has that effect? Still undecided. I have yet to see DS at the waterfront however I am sure it has been the highlight so far. Todays pictures with the sailboats out Were really cool to see. Thanks.

The orange suits that the kids in the pictures are wearing are known a survival suits. They are commonly referred to as ‘gumby suits’ out in the merchant marine. They are generally made of fire-retardant buoyant neoprene material. The suit is ‘one size fits all’ (or almost all) and made for quick donning while fully clothed. They are equipped with an inflatable ring bladder for additional buoyancy, a signaling whistle and a strobe light beacon with a water-activated battery. The suit has reflective tape on the arms, legs, and head to permit the wearer to be located at night.

The exposure suit became a requirement in the aftermath of the SS MARINE ELECTRIC sinking in a storm off Cape Hatteras in February of 1983. The investigation in the wake of the sinking found that there would have likely been more survivors (31 of the 34 crewmembers died of exposure in the frigid waters) had survival suits been required on board.

By law ships must now be equipped with suits for all crew with additional suits placed in watch areas like the bridge and engineroom. The crew is also required to donn the suits to check for fit and condition and receive hypothermia/cold water survival instruction monthly.

aooga15,
Could you send me name of the FB page?
I have only been able to see two pics of my son the very first day. I THINK I may have spotted him sitting in the bank with a red shirt, but I can't even tell. :( - oh well, no news is good news right?? ;)

The red shirts will be midshipmen officers, so unfortunately you can scratch that one from the list of "maybes"

I think the maroon t shirts are of 3rd co, though.
Unless it's changed since my son was there, maroon shirts were worn by 4th company.. 3rd co. (my sons company) had navy blue shirts.

Ah yes, luckily the red and maroon are far enough apart in color to be pretty distinguishable.

I hope for cesca that it was Maroon!
