Class of 2015 Just Reconized

Casey 2015

That is just some upperclassmen messing with you. They are inventing the name "Pluck". This is a Cow prank. I hope you have more class than to do the same to the new Yearlings next year.

There is no such status at WP and the upperclassmen know this - it is a continuation of your plebe year by a few Cows who are just harrasing you.

There is NOTHING that says Plebe year is one calendar year. PLEBE YEAR IS FROM R-DAY TO GRADUATION - period.

Do not be SO accepting of a few Cows who are trying to keep you down- you are full-blown Yuks - although you will not get the Corporal rank yet. Your class status is NOT related to rank. There are firsties and cows who do not have the "proper" Cadet rank due to a variety of issues but they are still Firsties or Cows.

Ask the Commandant or your TAC-I guarantee you that they do not reconize any Pluck status. Cow trick!

As Southpilot says - these upperclassmen are DEAD WRONG. Pay no attention to them.

Yeah, but you'll have people who don't complete all the Buckner requirements and wear PFC into the academic year. They'll be called Yuks just like the rest.

Good luck this summer. Hope you got the MIAD you wanted.

That's a good point and thank you, I'm going AASLT as I wanted. Should be fun.

Big Nick, no one is saying that plebe year continues. My plebe year is done, and our upperclass recognize that. It isn't really them trying to "hold us down" further. If anything, they've been extremely congratulatory and proud of our accomplishments the past year in general.

And honestly, one of the things I've learned the best here is just to let things roll off my back. If people want to make a big deal out of something, more power to them. I'm just going to keep doing what I need to and look out for my buddies. Tends to keep things less complicated and more fun.

CASEY,

GOOD PLAN - JUST DO YOUR THING.

If some Cows want to make-up things just ignor them.

My son (Class of 2015 -formally I-3) is currently in his second day of airborne at Ft Benning. I told hm about these posts. He said that he had never even heard the term Pluck. The upperclassmen in his company were 100% positive about the accomplishments of the former Plebes and did not put them in any category except Yearlings.

My congratulations and admiration to the Class of 2015 - have a great summer.

Good input, just roll with it. And it's only even a possible issue thru CFT anyway.

But even if made up, it's not isolated to one company. I'm aware of a dozen or more c/o 2015, in different companies, some also at ABN right now that got the PLUK stuff.

Likewise, I3 has the rep of being a chill company (no pun intended to the Icemen), so maybe they did not get quite the same treatment. We know some cadets in it. DS was a bit envious as he's in a hot company and duties lasted longer, quite to his annoyance. And apparantly more variance with traditions in general with the new companies.

But I don't know cadets sweating this, they have been and will be called worse. Probably even now in certain hot GA locations.

And I can see it now at CFT: "CDT SGT Leg... I'm a yearling, not a PLUK, got my wings too..." :thumb: Cadre would love that, they are already hinting about treatment for fresh ABN and AASLT wing boasting during CFT.

Yeah, I'd be amused to see one 5-jump chump trying to be hard on another 5-jump chump simply because of who did it first. A cherry is a cherry.

Scoutpilot,
Good point. Getting Airborne wings is a great accomplishment for a new Yearling. However, in an airborne unit you do not get much respect until you are a Senior or Master jumper. It seems you have to constantly work and improve to get to "the top".
Big Shot Seniors in HS become Freshmen (plebes) in college
Firsties at WP become lowely 2nd LTs
Even Senior Officers have someone more senior etc etc

Yup. I can attest to that. In my current unit I'm one of the guys who has to take out the trash and mop the floors while guys I rate leave early. They've earned their place already.

Jumping is great fun until you leave an MH-47 as the next to last man in the stick and realize the Dutch jumpmaster put you out over the trees and the wind ain't in your favor.
