Class of 2016 Candidate Visit Weekends

Candidate Weekend

My kid received a letter as well and really wants to go. The issue is the busy fall schedule and quite frankly the cost to get him there.

He attended the summer seminar and has completed his app. We had a family visit two summers ago and met with admissions.

If we cannot afford to send him to CVW, will this diminish his chances? I want to be supportive, but we have other children and one in college.

No, it won't hurt his chances. CVWs are intended to help well-qualified candidates decide if USNA is for them (assuming they receive an appt). It's different from NASS b/c the brigade is all there so things are more "real" in terms of what daily life is like. So those who can do it should attend, even if they're busy and even it they attended NASS.

However, USNA recognizes that it's not financially in the cards for everyone, especially those who must fly to get there. You DS should call or email his RD and indicate that he would really love to attend but financially it's not possible.
