Class of 2019 Appointment Thread

Kdet is right. What also differs (that isn't on the resume) is what else you bring to the table: under-represented minority, recruited athlete, prepster, first gen college, etc...If you are getting BFE in first round, you are doing something/everything right...and should be commended.

Alabama Dad here...what district/nom source, etc. How was your profile? Thanks....ROLL TIDE
I am in district 1, nominated by congressman Byrne. I will post my profile when I get home, I just finished baseball practice.

This shows how high caliber of students are getting the appointments.

I don't think that you should think that this is the caliber required to get in at all. GAB comes from one of the most competitive districts where we live so having this kind of resume moves him past the requirements to standing out like the obvious choice (which is why he got the appointment). If you are in an noncompetitive district then if your resume looked half as good you would look like the surefire choice. West Point is not expecting every candidate to have this kind of resume, if you do the best you can, try to take all of your opportunities for what they are worth, and are motivated to achieving this goal then you will impress them.

I got a call from my senator's office today notifying me that I'll receive my BFE by Friday!
Copied and pasted my college resume, sorry if there are issues with the format:

Are USMA online portals updated prior to mailings?
Last year our DS portal changed prior to the BFE. One morning when he checked the portal there was a "Class of 2018" header on the page.
He emailed the RC to ask her, but she could not come out and say yes as he had not yet been notified by our Senator. Our DS was in the first
round of notifications last year.

MOC are first notified of acceptance. They have 72 hours to make contact with the candidate (your RC and FFR cannot inform you prior to giving the MOC that opportunity, so don't ask).

After that window, the candidate portal should update. Depending on the speed of mail delivery, your BFE should arrive about the same time. Some will get the BFE first (sometime before the MOC announcement), and some after the portal updates. Depending on your FFR, you may also hear from them before your BFE arrives and you actually check to see your portal updated. You may also hear from your RC, but don't expect that right away.

What you can expect to hear from your RC is a push to make your decision as quickly as possible. This helps them fill the class. Be responsive.
