Class of 2020 USNA Appointment Thread

Yes, it is unsophisticated data mining of going thru about (5-6 ) 2016-2015 Threads where the early appointments are announced but not added to this later created threads.

I would estimate that each previous years (above) had many more Appointments announced than the final tabulations posted.

I am so confused by all of the new CPR threads on all the boards, I have trouble just keeping track of this thread

I can tell you what is more critical for many USNA Applicants BEFORE the offer and this situation has probably surprised many after it was too late:

A friend of my DS had his 7th Semester Grades kill his package at Admissions. Yet, USNA Admissions did NOT request his 7th Semester Grades !

Unbeknownst to the friend, his High School *automatically* sends out 7th (and 8th) Semester Grades to all the Schools :director: that each kid at the school has applied.

:eek3::eek3: Most of the kids at the HS, including my son, did not know of this follow-up policy ! :eek3: :eek3:

The friends poor 7th semester performance cost him key Application support of a USNA Team and a Foundation back-up offer. He was TWE'd last week.

My DS also had a rough 7th semester and he received his TWE immediately after his school automatically sent his grades (also not requested).

I think MomNewToThis's DD with the appointment is from GA. I remembered seeing her respond on Feb.2 to a thread titled "Looking for appointees from GA" posted by GeorgiaMidMom on Feb.1st. She never said what district. Of course at the time I was laser focused on any news from GA since that was a month before my DS got his☺️... Anyway, That's why I remembered!
 
My DS just got his TWE email, so he won't be joining his Plebe sister at USNA. He does have a great plan B with a Marine Option ROTC scholarship. Will be going to either VMI or Norwich. The decision has been on hold waiting for the USNA outcome.

Dontgiveuptheship2020 - sorry, I know that wasn't the news you were hoping to receive. My son went through the same thing back in 2013 for the Naval Academy - and he went with plan B on a scholarship to a state college while re-applying to USNA. He also decided to apply to West Point the 2nd time around, and that's what I wanted to give you a head's-up about:

His WP portal looked just the same as it does today, except it had a section asking for SOE's from his college professors rather than HS teachers - which made sense, no problem. He completed his applications, received a nomination for both Academies and was just waiting to see if he would make the cut for 2018. In mid-January - less than two weeks before the deadline to complete the applications, WP notified him that he also had to have three SOE's from his HIGH SCHOOL teachers - when he checked his portal there were three new red buttons below the other green ones. We had never heard ANYWHERE that they would want letters from both HS and college officials. Two of his teachers had taken jobs elsewhere so they had to be tracked down and told that evaluations were needed in less than a week. And of course, our son was in another state - taking 18 hours of classes to mimic the Academy curriculum so it's not like he had much time to try and deal with any of this!

This may not apply to you if USNA keeps your SOE's on file and are willing to use them again in addition to the ones from your college professors, but keep it in mind and it might be worth a call to Admissions next fall, just to make SURE that you don't need additional SOE's.

I do apologize for my abuse of perfectly good online real estate. Difficult day, so my odd humor trait surfaces. I loved all my math courses back in the day. All done with respect, and appreciation of course! Now, back to the nail biting for those still twisting in the wind or facing tough decisions.
