Class of 2021 USMMA Appointment Thread

Might I request that you let us know how you learn of your appointments? Portal, BFE, Email, MOC, Etc? Thanks

I'm the parent of a class of 2020 King Pointer. I can only speak of our experience last year but he received a voice mail from our congressman three days before the portal changed to Principal Fully Qualified. The official appointment paper came in the mail quite some time later.

My DS got notified via FedEx letter back on Monday, 13 Mar. Congressional nom, NC-2. He's also been offered 4-yr AFROTC scholarship, but KP is the way he's decided to go! Getting very excited and also overwhelmed by all the info to absorb. Looks like Indoc is 27 June, so here's to a short summer vaca then giddy up!
 
That's awesome and congrats! Remind me who NC2 rep is. My son got nominated from Alma Adams NC12 and from Tillis and Burr but still waiting. We are in Winston Salem.
 
Well, it used to be Rep Renee Elmers, and she is the one who nominated him before she left office. I think it's ?Holding? now??
 
He was kind of in the same boat as our district lines were c hanging and we were guaranteed a new rep. and the MOC (Foxx) we had was reluctant to nominate since we were leaving her district. Incoming guy was happy to help but by that point he had gotten nomination from Rep. Adams as well as Burr and Tillis. His status is still "App on file" and we heard from track coach last week that his application still had not been looked at but to hand tight.

How long did it take for the BFE to arrive after getting the phone call? Didn't mean to sound impatient, but I'm been stalking my mailbox since I got the call from my congresswoman's office to beat my parents to getting it first. I haven't told them of my appointment and I want to surprise them with the news with the BFE in hand as soon as it arrives!!! :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: It will be a nice late birthday present for my dad! And honestly, keeping my mouth shut about it is driving me insane!
 
We never actually heard from our MOC, probably due to the changeover. The Letter was a very pleasant surprise! Still waiting to hear from USAFA and USNA, but the more he researched USMMA, the more he likes it and the year at sea aspect. The Swim Coach sent him a Christmas card in Dec, and we appreciated that personal touch. He also likes the many options after graduation...decisions, decisions.

For all HOLD candidates out there, do not forget to update your file with admissions. Not only seventh semester grades, but any new honors as well. Have you recently competed at your state's debate tournament? Finished in first place at Districts in your sport? Been selected for a local award or other honor? Let admissions know. A few years ago, DS sent admissions a copy of an article about himself from our local newspaper. He got a phone call from admissions and Acceptance the next day. You never know what will get their attention and move you off that hold spot. Good luck to all.

Portal change to 'Principal Fully Qualified' this morning! Woohoo!

FedEx left the BFE on front porch and unfortunately our Labrador Retriever found it before our son did! Thankfully there was enough left to see that he did receive an appointment. Contacted Admissions Office and they are sending a replacement.

Congratulations to all who have received appointments and hoping everyone still waiting will hear good news soon. Just be sure to check the front porch before letting the dog out!!

I hope it is okay that I put three of you who have commented on appointments on the 'official list' so we can all keep track! If I have misstated, please copy and paste list on a new post, correct, and post. Also, if any of you have accepted/declined, please update list. I find from looking at other academy threads, that it is very helpful to be consistent with the list so others may see the information in a clear concise format. Congratulations all!

When you received the envelope, had your DS's portal already been updated to stating that he had received an appointment?

The envelope was delivered last Friday but his portal was still showing "Hold". It updated to reflect the appointment on Monday.
