Makes sense for Admissions to wait 'til the MOC appts fall out before using the 100 Pres appts. I'm hopeful our patience will be rewarded. Do you recall the speaker's name/position at USNA?

By previous estimates - between 600-800 people receive Presidential Noms due to their parents. Of those - only 100 can be charged to the Presidential noms - but who knows who was charged to what Nom? We will never know. But this is not my point...my point is that a member of the USNA team who manages this process specifically made the point to the BGO dinner attendees that they review the Presidential Nom slate at the end of the overall process and after most of the MOC slates have been reviewed. I’m not hypothesizing. I’m just telling you what he said.

This is definitely tougher on me as a parent than my DS who is still waiting on a medical waiver. I'm sure you're very proud of DD. Just getting this far is a big achievement. Best of luck to her!

NADSFAM- My DS was extremely qualified last year. Got into 5 top schools in CA, but was wait-listed to USNA. He thought it was the end of the world, so did we. Applied again this year and made it. This is a forever/life changing opportunity for these kids. This extra year, I believe has been a Godsend. He goes to school 11 hours from home, so he has dealt with the homesickness, has been able to take college classes and adapt his way of studying to pull good grades from those classes, and he has been able to come to the conclusion that Mom is not there anymore to make sure he is to class on time or has all of his homework done. I think for some, having to learn all of these things while at the same time dealing with all of the other challenges of the Academy can be tough, really tough. This extra year gives them a leg up! Use it! Not only will you see the benefit, but you will also really enjoy the extra year that you had with them.
The USNA loves re- applicants. Shows dedication! If it was worth applying for the first time, it is certainly worth a 2nd go around. You have to jump through a lot of the same hoops, but if you received a Congressional and Senatorial the first time around, keep in touch with those MOC's and I am sure they will give your DD another nomination.
Advice we were given (for our situation)- Go to a 4 year College/University, Take similar classes to that at the Academy (our son took, Poli Sci, Chem, Calculus and Writing his first Quarter) (Chem, Calculus, Physics his 2nd Quarter) and (3rd Quarter he will take Chem, Chem Lab,Physic, Calculus), get as many A's as you possibly can. ROTC if you can. Sports if you can. Our DS focused on school, so did not do ROTC or a sport, but got really good grades. He is focused and ready for Plebe Summer.
I know the disappointment, but try to help her turn that around into determination to get in. It will be worth it! It will happen!

We are all in this together. All of these kids have options and if the Academy is where they want to be, we have all done something right:).
I have no doubt you will be on this forum next year with your own positive story!!!! Don't give up!!!

My DS just received notification that he was accepted into the foundation program and will be heading to a year of Prep School. This is a great thing and he looks forward to the opportunity to prepare to enter the Academy next year.

USNA_Daddy-O signing off until next year at this time. Good luck to all and congrats to all that have received their appointments so far. For those of you still waiting, if the appointment goat doesn't come your way this year, keep up the enthusiasm for the end goal. USNA is a means to an end goal, and the more you push to achieve your goal...the more notoriety will come your way. Sell yourselves, because no one else is going to as well as you.

I posted this elsewhere in the forum.....I wonder if your DS experienced something similar. My DD's portal changed from this morning's "You are being considered for sponsorship into the USNA Foundation Program" to this evening's "Complete Pending Review."
 
I just went on the portal just now and his did the same thing. I am sure it is a glitch and that the update you received yesterday is accurate. If you go on Youtube and search USNA Foundation, there are a couple vids that will provide a feeling of pride to be included in this group.

Capt. Wallace is reaching out to my DS to touch base and let him know the specifics.
 
I hear that the prep schools/foundation schools are wonderful and do amazing things to get them prepared for the academy, and that the number getting into the academy after attending a prep/foundation school is very, very large. They will have such a leg up next year. You both should be very proud!!!!

Congratulations to all those who received appointments so far! I was just wondering if there are still people waiting to hear back from USNA. I submitted back in January and my application status has read "Complete Pending Review" for several months. My understanding of my DoDMERB status is that it is not complete because I am still pending a waiver for my eyesight. I'm getting really nervous that it's the end of March, I've heard back from everywhere else I've applied and nothing has come from USNA. Is this normal? Is there something I can do to hear anything from them? At the risk of sounding corny, USNA is more than just my "first choice" school, it's kind of my dream school and I've checked my application at least 3 times a day every day for months. Does anyone have any idea when I can expect a change in my status?

I’m in the same situation! I’m medically qualified, but I submitted in late September and haven’t heard a peep from usna since then. I do know that a lot of TWEs have been released in the past couple days though, so we’re still in the running! It’s not over until it’s over, hang in there!
