Class of 2022 DIY USNA Appointment Thread

DS still waitlisted. I don’t think not being able to log into the portal is has any meaning regarding their fates.
We are waiting here too. They did say 3rd week of May they might start hearing some news.

My DS is still on the wait list. Has anyone out there on the wait list heard any news yet? Also, username and password to check portal is no longer working. Thinking it might have something to do with new candidates starting on their packets? Any others with this issue?
DS still waitlisted as well. Also no longer able to log on to portal, feeling the finality. :-(

my son ,who is a pleb to be was issued a new login info- hoping you all will be to

If they successfully complete the program but unable to secure another nom, I believe they are eligible for a Supe or SECNAV nom. It really doesn’t matter to the candidates as they are moving on to USNA unless they decline then.

@justdoit19 are you thinking about encouraging more children to apply?

@Zeus are you asking me if I have other children of my own I am encouraging to apply? Or children in general? I do have a younger son who is expressing interest if that’s what you mean.

My inquiry about NAPS is to understand how that works. I thought NAPS was still competing for an appointment. I understand they have to have a mom to get that appointment. But reading here makes it sound like the are guaranteed an appointment (also a mom) for the most part. So not necessarily competing for it.

A curiosity.....

They are encouraged and expected to apply noms through their MOC. Just like regular candidates, they are from many different districts and some are “easier” to get than others. Yes, they are guaranteed to get a nom from the Navy if they couldn’t get one on their own. Hence we call NAPS “the golden ticket”!

DS is Still waitlisted and can not login to portal. Anyone else?

Saw a similar post the other day. Admissions is shifting their system to the Class of 2023 now. There is probably nothing left for DS to do in the portal anymore ....if DS gets pulled off the waitlist, I am sure USNA knows how to get hold of him.

Portal doesn't work for my son either. We are still anxiously awaiting word of any kind at this point. His MOC from who he received one of his nominations had a reception for all of his nominees on Saturday. Some of the review board members were there, too. They were very kind and told us that waitlisted nominees often get priority if they apply again the next year. They also said that this was a record-breaking year for applicants, especially in the states near the USNA, Maryland and Virginia in particular. Being waitlisted is actually an honor in that it signifies how high they ranked out of so many applicants.

Thank you very much for this information.

Thank you for your help and insight.

The portal still works for class of 2022, but the password changed.
My DS tells me that his Admissions Counselor sent him an EMail on May 9th with a new password.

My son is still on the wait list for the USNA Class of 2022. I'm wondering if there is a "thread" out there for others who are still waiting. I've heard that being selected from the wait list is a long shot, but we are still keeping hope alive. :) Would love to connect with others who are in the same boat.
My DS is also on the waitlist!!! Hello there!
Hi! Welcome to the world of silence and anticipation! I wonder how many of us there are...and how many will actually be selected. I guess we will find out eventually...
Waitlist here too! But this year DS has a great Plan B to stay at his University as he received the NROTC 3 year scholarship! Last year... there was no plan B!

Well it's the end of the road for my son, at least for the USNA Class of 2022. He received the email today informing him that fewer candidates declined their offers of appointment than they anticipated, so they will not be able to offer him an appointment to this year's class. He was encouraged to apply again next year and I hope that he will because I know he will make an outstanding naval officer.
He's got a great plan B at the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and we are excited for what the future holds for him. We wish you all the very best in your endeavors. Fair winds and following seas!

We did too.

Precisely my son’s plan B if we get that email. Not at all shabby.

Keep me posted on your son's status. I really hope he gets an appointment! But if he ends up going to UVA let me know and he and my son can connect. I think they could relate well since they've both been on the same ride for so long.

Just to share what was passed by the Maryland Area Coordinator: total nearly 110 students were selected from Maryland as USNA Appointees, NAPS selectees, and Foundation selectees this year!

Good spots for Blue Angel this afternoon are still available! Bring sunblocks!!

This is a great plan B. If he really wants to be a naval officer he doesn't have to go through USNA to do it. He may even come to love his plan B and decide not to re-apply to USNA. I didn't see if he applied for a NROTC scholarship this year, but I hope he is considering NROTC, even as a college programmer. Lots of people commission through ROTC and he may even get a scholarship if he performs well. Best wishes to you and your DS.
