Hello, here ready for the roller coaster of events coming in our way, DD as her file open for WP when she attend couple of weeks ago SLE (and just confirm her decition to go there), she will start soon the application to do as much as she can before school start.
So I have a question, for the ones who already did this process. After online application is done, Trancripts attached, Essay, etc. What comes next?, we know will be an interview, she has to do the CFA and also DODMERB, what I want to know, the order (sequence of this) if any?, or does not matter?, also DODMERB, when is the earliest that you can do it?, and also the later? ( I know sooner is better), but just asking. We have a lot of other things coming our way so is good to be prepare and know our times. Thanks.

DS postponed CFA until after football season. that was not the thing to do.
might want to videotape the CFA just in case. i understand that if your score is too high, you might have to submit a video confirmation.
you can't hurry the congressional interviews, just need to get the application in by the due date. DS bought an army grey suit to wear to the interviews.
your dd will probably receive emails from the congressional district coordinator. respond promptly.

This is more for the congressional interview which tends to be more formal:
Also the area you live in will dictate the style. For example, Washington DC, will be much more formal than Honolulu or Phoenix, where you "might" get away with a polo and khakis.

DODMERB is close to the end, if I recall correctly. My son got his earlier than most, but it was ordered by USNA, not USMA. Your daughter will be kept posted through the portal on what she needs. Obviously you need to turn the red items to green. The CFA can be done any time, as long as in accordance with all requirements (I believe all need to be video recorded now). If she is in top shape now, and is ready to take the CFA now, then do it. You will see many stories of even minor injuries hindering a kids ability to take the CFA. My son worked hard on the CFA, as recommended by his WP RC, and was almost at the max on every score, but didn't take the CFA before the Sr school year started, and in the second game of the soccer season he had an injury to his shoulder which kept him from doing or practicing the CFA. Fortunately, he healed enough to get the CFA in on time. It was a good score too, but not perfect.

I would be contacting teachers who will be doing the online evaluations. You log their info into the portal, which triggers an email to the teacher. Your DD should touch base with each teacher, and tell them it is coming, and how important it is. Maybe get a summer contact number so she can follow up with them. Same with her school counselor, who will need to send verification of activities, and a school profile. In my son's case his counselor was really the point person, who nagged teachers who were not real responsive.

The nomination process can be taxing, so get on that hard core. Letters of recommendation dont always come easy, as some people are better than others about getting them done and out. Offer to do as much as possible for those who are writing. Some will tell your daughter to just email some language that she would like. Some may argue with me on this, but I wouldn't be shy about taking advantage of that. Encourage the person to modify in any way they see fit, but this is the type of letter you would hope for: ....... And then insert the dream LOR language, keeping in mind the things a panel would like to see; character, hard work, bright, patriotic, conscientious, along with examples of experiences they have had with you confirming why they know you have those characteristics.

Your DS should check the portal at least every day. Take the ACT/SAT every time it is given, and study for it by doing practice exams and going over the answers. Stay out of trouble. Be a great teammate and leader on any sports team; and seek a Captain spot. Do this stuff, and take care of business as timely as is possible. Also, visit WP and speak to an RC. The RC's will give you incredibly candid information and insight. They will pump up your candidate too. An RC told my son, "just looking at you I know you should get a perfect score on the CFA, so work hard and get there, alright? And my kid said, "yes sir". He told him to get at least a 30 on every subject on the ACT, and told him it is very doable, as he had two subject above that already, and he told him if he got them to a 31, he would get an appointment. That visit big time motivated my son. He worked hard on everything, and got ACT scores above the thresholds recomended, with 34's in math and science. The WP visits we took were great.

Start working on the nomination process now. Apply to every possible nomination source. Plan to retake the SATs or AcTs in sept. Have these scores sent to USMA and the nominating sources. Also she should apply to ROTC. It has to be about service to the Army and the Nation, not just going to West Point. She can also track her teachers down and ask about their best contact information for Letters of Revommendation.

And remember...this is your dds journey and responsibility. Nothing wrong with asking questions but your dd will get all the information she needs as the year progresses. All she has to do is follow the information in the portal and contact her RC for questions. Best of luck to your dd and enjoy the ride!

She will apply to 3 SA as well 3 ROTC's :)

I know :)

You will learn how to dress for an interview, wear a uniform, and completely forget how to dress out of that uniform.

Keep copies of everything you submit... Sometimes it will take a long time for an item you submitted to get checked off so expect that but if something did get lost you have it ready to resubmit. When you finish a set of items get ready for more as requests for things comes in waves.

Well said! My DD had a form from the counselor entitiled "brag sheet" in which there were questions regarding activities including athletics, academics, service, and work. It also included questions regarding her hobbies and situational questions. This was given to the teachers that were going to write the letters of recommendation so that they had more of an understanding of her other than what they witnessed in classs. Her counselor did the majority of assisting with portal information required by USMA. Thank you cards or letters, of course for all who assist.

The critical path for your DS/DD from today runs through the MOC nomination process. Focus as much on that as possible while training for the CFA.
Get the MOC timelines and checklists printed out and plan to secure letters of recommendation and draft the essays.
Note that some MOCs will nominate to multiple academies while others make you declare your choice. If applying to all 3 SAs this can really change your odds if you have to declare one SA at each MOC.

Remember that no nom = no chance. Prioritize the nomination applications now until all interviews are over.
