Class of 2023 Boot memo out

For those in the Jacksonville Florida regional area, NAS Jax has the LQ Bates Lites e00932 and the DLATS model in all sizes from 7.5 to 13 currently

I would love to hear current cadets weigh in with their opinions on having boots for in-processing day. Necessary or not?

WP has been outfitting cadets for a long, long time, now...today's boots are really soft compared to the leather ones of times gone by...I can't imagine a cadet bootless at the end of their 1st day at WP & aren't they trashed after Basic anyway? Just saying, trust the process...the Army knows how important boots are. As Arron Rogers said, R-E-L-A-X.

Some things to consider:
  • can your young man/woman do the wash on their own?
  • can they iron esp. w/o burning synthetic shirt/pants? (had to teach DD the nite before going in)
  • copies of Immunization Records, etc.
  • Compression shorts strongly recommended for men, optional for women as /my DD
Congrats & good luck to all!...Now go out & enjoy your Sunday!

@SomeGaveAll - for some cadets, for a number of different reasons, purchasing the boots in advance is a real hardship, so they do make allowances for this.

Good catch Some gave all, that whole "mandatory" thing caught my eye too! Besides, having spent just a few years in combat boots, I can say there are not many other things more important to make sure you get right than foot wear. Not much time or sympathy to be had once your there if your boots don't fit right.

@SomeGaveAll : You're right. I didn't realize that advance purchase is mandatory.

It would be beneficial to get a few hours or days in those boots and LQ's...wish I had time in mine before having to break them in on road marches. Not the best place to do that.
