Class of 2024 AEP Parents Thread

DS only had the late April date in his events. I'm not sure if that's because the other dates were full, or because he's already visited three times (Bear Day, AIM, CFAD) and they wanted to give other appointees more choices and space ahead of the May 1 deadline.

Have your DS Click on the LINK to AEP WITHIN his invitation e-mail. That will take him to the AEP page. From there he can click on the session he prefers and register. The default invite in the Bears Den was April for our DS as well. In other words- the invite just lists the April date, but by following the instructions you can register for any of them.

I don't think my daughter got the email (she has checked spam), but the April date is on her events. What are the other dates available so maybe we can ask about them?

We didn't think our DS got the email either; he searched his inbox and spam folder multiple times. He was searching "Coast Guard". He finally searched "invitation" and found it.

Perfect! Thank you! One of these is during her spring break (but not the one in her portal). I'll let her know so she can reach out to her AO.

I believe that on Bears Den you are invited to one of the dates, but in your email you get the list of all the dates and you can choose whichever one works best. At least that is how I understood it.

Thanks. I just booked our flights to Boston - half the price of flying in to Providence or Hartford 😁 A bit of a longer drive, but well worth it...
That was my thinking originally. Then when I actually did the drive for parent weekend in October I changed my mind. The traffic from Boston to New London was absolutely terrible. What looked like about a 2 hour drive turned into a 4 hour drive - and that was non rush hour. The train from Boston to New London might be a good option, but the drive absolutely sucked and I would not recommend it to anyone.

We are going on Mon., Apr 6.

Does anyone know if RA candidates are being invited to AEP for April since they'll be hearing mid March?

It's about that much from Montana too!
...but so awesome to live in Montana. Also, so cool our kids will be with so many other like minded kids from all over this GREAT country. One of the best things about the SA experience is the diversity and geographical dispersion of their classmates. My son would likely never even meet anybody from Montana if he was just going to STATE U. He says he really feels a little bit sorry for his buddies that are staying local. We'll see how he feels mid-day on June 29th 😧

Thanks for this advice. We're signed up for the March dates!

You're killin' me...traffic is the very bane of my existence. Now, I'm going to have serious traffic anxiety for the next 2 months. 😰

Traffic will all depend on when you are coming in! There are plenty of times when that 2 hour drive will really be a 2 hour drive- like in the middle of the night!🌜Choose your flight times wisely and there will be no traffic anxiety!

Solid advice right there!

I just did that drive yesterday midday and had no trouble at all. But, for the most part, it's not too fun on weekdays... using Waze is a must and if all else fails, you get there when you get there 🤷‍♂️ Where's teleportation when ya need it?!
