I am a candidate for USMA Class of 2026. I am basically finished with my application, just need to take the CFA, which I'm scheduled to take soon. However, I was disqualified for being diagnosed with asthma after the age of 13, but I did not use any inhalers since, never had an attack, and recently got a letter from my doctor basically saying I don't have asthma anymore. I was already requested for a waiver about a month ago probably because I am a recruited athlete. I've also already received my LOA, SAT score's decent (1290), GPA 5.4 on a 5.0 scale, and ranked 5 out of 162 kids in my class. I am also a female if that helps anything. I've been playing my sport competitively for a long time, and only went to an asthma doctor because I hadn't been performing that well at the time and my parents thought asthma must've been the problem. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone has an idea on the likelihood of me getting a waiver. My coach said he feels good about it, but I am very worried because I really really want to attend USMA. It's also been a month since my waiver's been requested. (I know it's a long process, but I'm super nervous about it!) Thank you to all!

I recommend you post this in the DoDMERB forum, where Mr. Larry Mullen, Deputy Director, DoDMERB, often kindly responds to posts like this snd offers to communicate privately. He’s the best source of insight. Waivers depend on that commissioning source’s policy a s the individual case.

While you wait, tend your alternate plans and focus on what you can control.
