Hi everyone. I am currently attending community college, and i graduated high school in 2024. I’ve always wanted to serve. I’ve had 2 siblings attend navy, and my sisters rotc, so it encouraged me to follow in their footsteps. I haven’t taken the ACT, but My GPA is around 3, not sure if that’s competitive. I lettered all 4 years in basketball, and was captain senior year. Will i have a chance of getting in?

Here is a primary source, the class profile, that you can use to gauge that: https://www.usmma.edu/sites/usmma.dot.gov/files/docs/USMMA Princeton Review 2014.pdf

Take a strong STEM course load (calc/chemistry/physics) and get good grades in those in community college, and then do well on that ACT or SAT. Many folks recommend doing both if you can afford it because the structure of the tests are different, and you may excel at one more than the other. Best of luck.

You do come up short on the GPA of “around 3” but that could be offset by your athletic ability. But it certainly is worth a shot!

Contact the basketball coach if you are trying to get in via the athletic route. The only other way to know where you stand is to apply and see how things turn out. Academics is the #1 source of attrition so showing good grades in high level math/chem/physics would be helpful. The for sure way to not get accepted is to not apply.

Is your around 3 GPA high school or community college? Your college grades will carry more weight than your HS grades.

ask yourself how you can standout. demonstrate excellence. where do you excel? everyone has good grades and test score, it's that 3rd leg--excellence, leadership, being a champion that really matters. and BTW: 3 outta 4 in grades is average. get those up.

I was thinking about this. I will email and get into contact with the coach. Thank you :)
