Class Rank

Once you complete your initial questioner, the portal gets locked and it takes an update from your RC. If you had a significant jump in class rank, you can send a note to your RC with the evidence to support the change.

That has to come directly from your HS on official transcript or school letterhead.
Ask your guidance counselor.

All updates go through the RC at West Point. Objective evidence of the update is required and depending on what the update is, it needs to come from the responsible individual,

For example, DD was named captain of two varsity teams during her senior year. She talked to the coaches and then sent an email to the RC with coaches on copy. The coach could then reply and confirm the changes.

Class rank would need to come from the counselor. Talk to your counselor and then connect the RC and the counselor through email.

I was wondering about that as well, since I didn't have the actual class rank when I filled it in and just estimated. Should I have it sent in now or at the end of the year, since it may change either up or down in the meantime.

I would wait until a) either the end of the year or b) it's drastically different than what you estimated/changes significantly. I wouldn't worry about updating it constantly since it will probably fluctuate a little here and there. My school doesn't provide rank, but if I were to have it, I wouldn't update it unless it shifted a couple places or if I was finalizing my profile before a deadline.

It gets sent with your school profile. If you remember, you gave admissions an email contact from your high school to submit transcripts, class rank, and school profile. Honestly, I do not see your class rank changing more than a few people after a semester your senior year. They are more looking at the percent. If you were in the top 10 percent last summer, you probably didn’t jump to the top 5.
