Closed gym facilities at university

I'm the Dumbest Guy in the Room and prove it ever day.
I break it down to the simplest common denominator.
The other day, there was an argument about the difference between DEFUNDING vs REDIRECTING. The commentator said, "Ok, I'll agree with you instead of dragging this argument out...so how about you "REDIRECT" YOUR PAYCHECK TO my CHECKING ACCOUNT...and then tell me the difference again about defunding vs redirecting" :zip:

Ignoring all of the "chew on glass and smile about it" responses, you can probably look around your college town for a private gym membership, there are a lot of places that are "closed" but are sneakily operated regardless. If you're not already, you could get involved in a crossfit/Olympic lifting group on campus and see where they go for exercise instead.

Or, you could join the football team. They get their own special gym

One of the main reasons that I want a gym open on campus is because I’m trying to walk on the team... there are no tryouts this fall due to covid :/

Invest in a weighted vest and try some calisthenics exercises. Squat, push, pull, do whatever you need to do. I assume you'll want to maximize the weight to somewhat keep your gainzz.

As far as price, my personal suggestion would to get weighted plates from Rogue and put them in a cheap plate carrier from ebay or something. You don't need to splurge on the fancy (and therefore expensive) 5.11 Murph vests.

There are other ways to create your own free weights with everyday items as well (fill a gym bag with clothes, attach sand bags to the end of some pvc pipe, put your car in neutral and push it, etc). Unless you really need to bulk up to play offensive lineman or mike linebacker, it might be better to work on technical aspects of your desired position on the football team (footwork, stamina, mental focus, etc). Good luck with your training!

This is a great way to make some friends? Find some other guys who also like to work out. It's motivating and pretty straight forward. My son is doing this with some dorm mates - the stellar State U gym is some miles away (if it's even open). Guys who like working out have an easy time working out with like-minded guys in the dorm.

Before my son left for West Point, I bugged him about prepping for BEAST. He told me he did stuff in his room and I never really saw him work out except I knew that he regularly went for a run x 6-8 miles. He was never a gym rat and so I was a little worried he might not be up to par. Turns out he knows what he is doing-he had the highest ACFT in his platoon with 581! Hooah!!!
