Recently, I received an appointment for the USMA class of 2025. I have been very excited and thinking a lot about the opportunities that I will have at the Academy. Lacrosse has been a big part of my life and I have played all through high school. Unfortunately, I am not at the level to play NCAA. Playing club has been an interest of mine but USMA does not seem to have a Men's lacrosse club. Does anyone know how hard it is to start a club like this or if it is even a possibility? I know I am thinking far ahead but I feel there must be others looking to play at the club level as well. I appreciate any help or information!

There's a casual men's lacrosse club that is unofficial, or at least there was last year. It is incredibly hard to start a funded club. Many attempts are made each semester and a very very small minority are okayed, especially for activities that have an NCAA equivalent. I wanted to start a women's team to no avail, more or less the same position as you--I originally wanted to walk on to the team here but decided it wasn't the best for my military or personal development. I've since broadened my interests and have picked up other activities, but I still have my stick in the basement. I miss it a lot.

Once you're through Beast, if you haven't found the group yourself, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the name of the cadet who was organizing it to get in touch with.

Thank you for the help. I miss the sport so it is nice to know there is still a possibility to play.

My son accepted his offer of appointment for class of 2025 and feels the same way. He’s played lacrosse for years but is not at the level of NCAA. He likes lacrosse and we have loved watching him play all of these years but I think he wants to try other things. I’m not sure if they have a club for lacrosse.

I'm in the same boat. Trying to walk on to the track team but I am exploring all options. Really wish they had a club golf team!

Me as well. I have to do some more searching in regards to Cadets and access to the Golf Course. Are they able to use it?
