Clubs at USAFA

So if a cadet is from, say, the South where there is no skiiing and has only skiied once, where would that cadet fit in if he wanted to be on an organized group just to ski and get better in a group environment?

Also, how many clubs would you say a cadet could handle at one time? Like, would EMT, Skiing, and Combat Weapons Team be doable at all?

I'm not sure of the time commitment for EMT, someone else in it would be better to answer that. Ski Club takes as much commitment as you want. If you have a weekend free, you can head out with them if you've joined the club and will pay for the equipment for the week. From what I understand, the Combat Shooting Team requires quite a commitment. It's about the same commitment as something with a LOS status (Limited On Season... gets you out of intramurals and some other mandatory events, teams like D&B, Honor Guard, Saber, Wings of Green/Blue, Inter Collegiate Sports) but doesn't get LOS. If you want more information, ask me next week. I'm going for it and we have the Phase III Field Portion Selection next Saturday. I think some of the Uppers on this board were involved with the Combat Shooting Team also.

The Ski club is very open. It is a recreational thing. Go when you want (and when they have SCA/busses). There isn't any prerequisite experience required.

EMT is a decently large time committment, but much of the work is during mandatory events anyway.

Combat Shooting Team practices 2x during the week, plus Saturdays (generally the minimum, sometimes more). It would likely interfere with EMT and Skiing (due to Saturday practices).
We have one team member who wanted to do EMT, but that training interferes with team practices.

I'm not sure if any of the clubs have websites. The first month of school there will be a fair at Arnold Hall where all clubs are represented so you can ask questions then.

I noticed this too. USMA clubs all have websites that are (sometimes) very helpful. Haven't noticed this for the other Academies.

EMT and Ski Club would be fun for me. The Combat Weapons Team would be fun, but from what I've heard mostly only soldiers coming off duty to the Academy get in. At least, that's how it is at the USMA.
