Coach Ken is not coming back for 2023.

He did us proud. Great coach, even better man. He is a rare gem. He will be missed.

I was hoping he would get another year. The class is 2023 for football did not fair well in retention. With the shuffling of the league and a very young team mostly returning was hoping to see what next season he could do.

Completely agree. I thought he needed another year to see what he could do. Lots of hiccups with retention.

My college bowl teams also are weird. NLI and transfer portal has created a whole different world.

He is a well loved Coach!!

The transfer portal and the extra year given for COVID has really changed things. I mean Stetson Bennett is like 46 at this point.

This is a sad day not just for Navy football, but college football. The last few years have been tough for both USNA and USMA football for many of the same reasons mentioned above. It’s really rough to find coaches who are good fits for SAs. Coach K will be hard to replace.

.
Btw … every job has a “Shelf-life” …. There is No such thing as Good time for a change

I like the coach … but I am not sad.

… tie game, ~50s on clock, 2 timeouts remaining and Navy ball on their ~30yd with 70 yards to go … ~35yds to go to try a decent shot at making a field goal …

Squandered time after the 1st play calling Timeout … Now 27s left and 1 timeout remaining

2nd down they ran to the right side of scrimmage from their “Left Hash” so that it would take them longer to get out of bounds … and they didn’t even come close to making it out of bound … another example of poor “BAD Play calling” … I don’t know what else I can say … I’m pi$$ed maybe?

We had a chance with 50seconds and 2 timeouts to kick a field goal at least … and the play calls and time management stunk …

I was there at the Game … and I’m still mad

Hell … there were Philly native sports fans sitting in the C-suite area with us who were *****ing and moaning about the play calling too …. Philly sports fans are some REAL sports fans … we’re from the DMV … we’re tend to be less expressive

College football coaching is tough. Recruiting and coaching at SAs is even tougher. You will not get 3-5 Star recruits. You won’t have offensive linemen big enough to run a traditional offense. I would not be surprised to see USNA go through 5 or more tough years as they try to find a good replacement for Coach K who is a good fit and can succeed in the SA environment. Army went through a long dry spell before Monken. I have friends who, as Cadets, never saw West Point win a game.
Be careful what you wish for.

.
He was paid a Lot to win …. He doesn’t need to work any more.

He’s a Good person … but everything has Shelf-life …. It’s time for change

I feel bad for the firstie players who stuck it out. Losing yesterday sucked. Waking up to this must be like getting kicked while they’re down.

Ken understood that these young men are more than D1 ball players. I respected that about him the most.

.
Coach Niumatalolo was paid nearly 8x the salary of Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin

… No one should be sad or crying …

NAVY will find another really good man and decent coach like Niumatalolo who “Truly” gets the purpose …

Passion wins sports games and life’s tough battles

I've been involved with USNA through the tenures of a LOT of coaches and only a couple of them "Truly" got the purpose
and Coach Ken is certainly one of them. And yes, Coach Ken made a lot more than the government officials which is also the case
for College Football and Basketball coaches throughout the nation. In most states, the highest paid government employee is
a Football or Basketball coach at their state university or college. FWIW, Ken was offered what was reputed to be a lot more $$$'s
from BYU a few yrs ago and chose to stay at NAVY because that's where his heart was.

… Coach Niumatalolo may get involved in the selection of NAVY’s next head coach … no grudges … because that’s the type of person he is
.

.
Can do … here is a fine example of someone to rally around …

Why shouldn’t NAVY take a lead in this area? Coach Mendez can fill a role if he is available, and it doesn’t have to be the lead role.
