I'm currently interested in pursuing a path as an ROTC commissioned officer through my college's ROTC, however, I have a possible health factor that could disqualify me. When I was a baby I had surgery on my heart known as the Coarctation of the aorta. I do not take any pills, medications or anything related to this. It does not affect me in any capacity other than a scar you would see when I take my shirt off. I only see the doctor for it around every 4-5 years and the last time I saw him he said I was in fantastic shape and that you couldn't even tell I had one unless you saw me shirtless. I can do everything that would be needed in the army and more. Would I still be able to join the Army as an officer with a doctor's wavier? If anyone could help me with this please respond as I don't want to plan out my life with a military career only to find out I can't join.
