Coast Guard crew survives crash in Utah mountains

Wow, so glad all 5 survived. I had no idea CG did security detail for events like the Olympics. I was kinda curious about that. -officer

Coast Guard falls under Homeland Sercurity, so that is probably the reason why they were at the Olympics for sercurity detail.

My brother is stationed in Elizabeth City as Flight Mech & he knows the flight crew on that HH60. One of the crew member just transfered from Mobil. My brother is pretty shakin up about it for several reasons. One, the CG is one big tight family especially in Aviation and second, it could have been him on that flight because he does do long distance flights on the HH-60. Beginning this year, he had to go to Washington state and from there to Cape Code and then back to EC. He said, theyr'e going to bring back the 60 to Elizabeth City for the investagation.

My prayers are with them and to their families. And to the members at Elizabeth City Air Base.

MH-60

Air Station Elizabeth City.

The aviation community (and Coast Guard in general) is a very tight knit community.

BTW the CG also provides security for such events as the Super Bowl, World Series, basically any big event near or on the water...especially since 9/11.
