Every year, the Coast Guard Foundation hosts tribute events to honor the heroic efforts of the United States Coast Guard, whose bravery often go unsung. This year's 7th Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard was held in our nation's capital, Washington, DC.

The funds raised from the galas help to support the Coast Guard Foundation's projects and programs that improve the lives and performance of Coast Guard members and their families, as well as Coast Guard Academy Cadets.

Watch below a video the Foundation put together for the DC Tribute, including parts of President Obama commencement address at the US Coast Guard Academy graduation last month.

Thanks for this beautiful post. The Coast Guard is sometimes the forgotten service. I work with several retired Guardians. One has a DS (Dan) who attends the CGA. Folks who do what you and your DS or DD do is just awesome.

Really like the video. I have trouble swallowing it with an understanding for the requested budget from the White House last year (that luckily was raised by Congress). Obama will praise them in that situation, while forgetting to mention them in Afghanistan (yes, where a few Coasties are) and slashing their budget it upgrade a fleet with ships from the 1940s still in service.

But I appreciated the images, just not the voice over.
