Coffee at USNA?

Ummm... it's the military. It's a UCMJ offense to deny coffee to service members. I think. If it isn't, it should be. That was the worst torture at SERE. No coffee and the interrogator drinking coffee in front of me. And putting the cup right under my nose. In the middle of January.
Whenever I flew missions into Iraq my bug out bag had a small propane stove, my French press, a hand grinder, and some beans. If I was shot down and survived I WOULD have coffee.

One of my former squadron mates father was a retired Marine GYSGT and a 3 War (WW2, Korea and Vietnam) veteran. He was one of the “Chosin Few.” Talking with him one time about being at the reservoir, he related to me that the one thing they always wanted was coffee. They were forbidden from building individual fires which would give away their positions to the Chinese. He told me that their solution was to place coffee grounds in their water cooled machine guns. After they had repelled multiple attacks and had to change the water, they drained it out and had coffee...he said it had an oily taste but they made do...I never asked him how they kept the water from freezing which went into their machine guns...
 
This wasn't a thing when I was younger, but now I refer to coffee as Fecal Expulsion Fluid (FEF).
If I have a cup when I get up in the morning - Holy Frijolies - It's like pulling the pin on a grenade.

One of my favorite marchcing cadences over Plebe Summer went "They say that in the Navy the coffee's mighty fine. It looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine". Once the ac year hit and we were allowed to consume caffiene, I learned that was only a slight exaggeration. The hot coffee in King Hall leaves much to be desired. But yes, mids can drink coffee almost anywhere.
 
I sent my Norwich Rook some money to go into town and buy a nice breakfast for reading day. He sent me a picture of a box of Joe he had next to his laptop...

Very true. However it is still the life blood of Mids. God forbid KH runs out of coffee cups again. There were nearly riots...and dare I say, borderline insubordination. Another important note on KH coffee, from the moment you take your last sip you have one hour til det. Refer to post below for explanation.
