Hey, I have a quick question about the USCGA. Do they accept college transfers, well not transfers but applicants who have post high school college credit. And if so, do they accept a lot or very little. If anyone knows any of these stats it would be very helpful. Also, if they do what courses or activities should I do in order to help increase chances. Thank you.

I'm sure they accept college students just like all the other service academies. They are looking for a lot of the same things as high school students. It is important to show that you are excelling in a lot of the college courses that will be expected at the academy (Physics, Chemistry, Upper math courses, English, etc.)

Yes I know several current and former cadets who had been in civilian colleges prior to their appointments. The numbers aren't large but then again it is the smallest of the academies and there are fewer slots.

Anyway, you should be involved in some kind of activities that demonstrate leadership, active in sports, in good physical condition, and a person of good character(no legal troubles esp.).

They don't transfer credits per se but you may be able to test out of some intro courses.

Good luck and feel free to post any questions.:thumb:

Good luck with the entire process. I second and third what has already been said.

Do you happen to know if college applicants who get their application/supplemental forms submitted early (as early as the first semester college transcripts are available.....late Dec, maybe) are reviewed prior to the regular action folks? Son waited until the bitter end last year (waitlisted) and the idea of having to wait that long again is not fun!
Thanks!

I don't know for sure but I felt you were owed some kind of response. My guess is that they do, but I have no specific knowledge of this. I think they appreciate the persistence of someone who is willing to go through the process again. Good luck to your son. Maybe someone else on here would have more information.

Thanks Boss

Thanks for the reply Boss51. Appreciate it
