Hey everybody I have a quick question that i have not found the answer to. I am 21 years old from Casper, Wyoming. I have earned a journeyman's license in plumbing and have attended a junior college yet I am looking at transferring to the Coast Guard Academy. I have completed the application and have all of my letters of recommendation (including a congressional letter though not needed). As I read the Early Action section in the application process page on the website i believe i do not qualify for EA. So my question is do I send in my application now or do I wait? I have already completed my DoDMERB exams and my status there is pending? I would also like to visit the Academy and have an interview but i do not know when i should do that either? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is no reason to wait...send it in...you can always add to the application later. Then you should contact your admissions officer regarding a visit and/or interview. An Admissions Partner can do the interview in your area. Good luck.

BTW why do you feel you are ineligible for EA?

Your file will go before the CCEB with the regular admissions process beginning in December, so there is no reason to wait if it is complete.

According to the current guidelines, only high school seniors and active duty military are eligible for EA at USCGA.

Thank you both for your advice. I will get my application in the mail asap. And yes bossf51 like luigi59 has stated only high school seniors and active duty military members qualify for EA. At least that is what I understood from the website. So being out of high school for 4 years this fall and being a plumber I do not meet either of those requirements. thanks again and God Bless.
