College Choices question

DS applied for NROTC, listing one local college on his College Choices list. There are 3 local schools all under the same NROTC command, however, and he also applied to another of them, but couldn't list that school as a College Choice (the system wouldn't permit it).

Still haven't heard from NROTC (fingers crossed!), but have heard from the 2 local colleges. Got rejected from the one that he DID list on his College Choices, and accepted to the other local college that is NOT on his College Choices list. Also awaiting admissions decisions from the other 4 colleges on his list.

Question is this - should he contact NROTC to let them know the admissions decisions mentioned above? Specifically, if he is awarded an NROTC scholarship, how will his school be assigned, since he is seriously considering the local college that he was accepted to that is not on his College Choices list? Will it be a problem if the college he wants to attend is not on his College Choices list? I'm presuming this is not uncommon, since the "system" did not permit him to list the 2 local schools he was applying to, but just want to be proactive in case.

There is no need to contact NROTC at this point. You stated there are 3 schools all under the same NROTC command. One would be the host unit and the others will be cross town affiliates. The scholarship will be assigned to a host unit, so, for the scholarship, it would not matter if he was enrolled at the host unit or one of the cross town affiliates. If he is awarded a scholarship, then you can contact NROTC to clear up where he will actually be enrolled as a student. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the response!

I switched my top 5 schools about a week before I got my scholarship, during the last week of March, after a few rejections in the middle of March. No worries, the process took about 2 minutes of writing an email. Its super easy! Best of luck
