My DS requested his transcripts on 2 January 2013 to be over-nighted to the USAFA, his application status is still incomplete and DS has called his counselor and has left messages.

DS has spoken with his school and they confirm the transcripts being sent.

DS & I don't know who to contact or where to turn for help. I'm hoping someone will be able to point us in the right direction to finalize this matter.

Thank you for your help in this matter, please feel free to PM me.

His admissions counselor is the person to make contact with. They are most likely swamped at this point causing a delay in updating candidate portals. If DS has a good relationship with his ALO, he could attempt to have the ALO check. Since it was overnighted, there maybe delivery confirmation available. He might check with the school. That's all I've got.

Same is happening with me. I called my counselor to confirm, and she said she would have my transcripts checked by the end of last week...needless to say it didn't happen. I've since grown less patient; I don't want to pester her but maybe this is a must. Call your counselor to make sure and just hope everything you needed to send was sent. Your counselor's number will be on your online candidate portal.

Can never get in touch with counselor, and have never had a call returned. Feel like our hands are tied.

They're fairly bad about that; I got lucky once when catching her. They've not returned any of my calls as well. Just be confident you did everything right and the academy will take care of it. I'm waiting to make sure I'm totally qualified with that, because everything else is finished for me.

Stay after it. Last year my son had a lot of trouble communicating with his counselor as well. AFA had requested some additional information from him and he supplied it to his counselor as requested and the counselor responded via e-mail confirming the receipt. Months went by and he still had an item on his portal showing incomplete. He finally got ahold of the counselor again after days of trying and was told that said information had not been received. He resent the information along with a copy of her previous confirmation and the incomplete item was updated within 24 hours.

Bottom line don't assume they have anything. Confirm it but plan on having to expend significant effort to get it confirmed.

USAFA Counselor

Hi
Well don't I feel special today....I have spoken to my DS AF counselor several times over the past few months. I have never had a problem getting a hold of her or found her anything less than helpful and encouraging. I had assumed this was SOP at the academy. Sorry some of you have not had my experience in this regard.
Regards
John

In fact in all of last years application process he never once spoke with his counselor (I never called, but he did a few times). It's a different counselor this year, but same problem. I guess I'll have to step in and start calling myself on his behalf (can I do this? He is 18)- he simply doesn't have the free time available to be calling constantly.

It's taking longer for my portal to be updated this year than it did last year.
Sounds like admissions is pretty busy. I wouldn't worry about it. They probably have it. If it's not updated by the end of the working day (CO time) tomorrow, I'd shoot your counselor a call. It can't hurt to call.

USAFA Counselor

Hi
I have always identified myself as the father and never was there a question asked, just great service! But I do expect they are quite a bit busier now than then.

John

My counselor has always been really bad about phone calls as well. I only got a hold of her once I think...
