Pit in my Stomach. DS has LOA but just got word that while he passed the vision and color test at Medical, the eye doctor noted a color deficiency and he is being put forward now to attempt medical Wavier. Having read varying thoughts, and opinions on this, wondered if anyone had any further more recent details or suggestions.

Recommend posting this in DoDMERB forum. If you browse there, you can see Mr. Larry Mullen, Deputy Director, DoDMERB, routinely offers to communicate offline with candidates to answer their questions.

Mom/Dad = Pls Google “DoDMERB;” Hit “Questions on the process;” Read paragraph #4

DS = Send me an email:
lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; provide the text of your Parent's posting above to YOUR email. The subject line of the email should be “Greatlakes- SAF =Color vision deficiency.“ Do NOT embed links in your email as I will not be able to view those.:wiggle:

I think a lot depends on which SA you are referring to. But as stated, Mr. Mullen is the authority on this. Good luck!

Spoke to Admissions and Coach today. Apparently DS scored 9 out of 15 on Color Vision test, 11 is passing. We were told that the wavier process has been initiated as a Competitive (LOA) applicant. USMMA Indicated that a secondary vision test at a Naval Facility might be required. Positive thoughts and prayers as USMMA is not just the goal but the dream. I know this is a crazy question but has anyone ever heard of a means or method to practice and or enhance ones Color Deficiency?

My son is colorblind. There is no known method to fix it, other than glasses, which aren’t allowed.

Greatlakes.....Just moments ago, I received an email from DS and will respond shortly. "Spoke to Admissions and Coach today."

I remind you that it is in the best interest of DS for all family members to read: DS/Mom/Dad = Pls Google “DoDMERB;” Hit “Questions on the process;” Read paragraph #4:wiggle:
