COWG Members,
I regret to inform you that I have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 COWG Summer encampment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In conversations with our partners, it has not been possible to confirm the availability of facilities that will be necessary to run the encampment and alternate facilities are not an option at this time. In addition, staff selection and training was postponed and will not be able to be scheduled with adequate time before the start of the encampment.
COWG leadership and cadet programs is working with NHQ to determine a path forward for cadets who need encampment credit to obtain their Mitchell Award. Once we have further information, we will pass that along to cadets and squadron commanders. We are also looking at other options inside the wing and region that would allow us to conduct activities that would qualify for encampment credit. It is my goal to make sure that no cadets are penalized or held back due to these circumstance which are outside of our control.
For those members who submitted applications and payments, refunds will be processed as rapidly as possible considering the current stay at home restrictions. Credit card payments will be refunded to the credit card and checks will be returned.
The encampment webpages will be updated shortly and will be your best source of information. The encampment and Cadet Programs teams will have the latest information and are ready to assist you.
