Colorvision Test

We were surprised to find out from the eye exam last week that DS has color deficiency. I’ve searched on this forum to try to understand what the next steps would be (no results yet from DoDMERB). He is applying to the Naval Academy and we know they accept a small % on waiver for RL only, but is anyone familiar with the current SOP for testing? Will DoDMERB ask for a second test, such as FALANT, before DQ? I’ve read that FALANT was the standard for Navy at one time, but perhaps being phased out? Also, does NROTC offer waivers for this?

Others have written the they do wave for color blindness issues, but your son career in the Navy will be limited beause many positions wont be open for him due to his vision
