I saw there are no classes Columbus Day. Will Plebes be able to leave The Yard for lunch etc.? Curious what liberty looks like for upper class Mids on holiday weekends, as well. Are upper class Mids given overnight leave on Sunday of holiday weekends? Thanks!

On Columbus Day weekend this past year Plebes were given Liberty on Saturday and Sunday, but not Monday. Upperclass Mids did get liberty on Monday. In addition, Upperclass Mids are given a certain number of overnight weekends per semester depending on their class. For example, 3/C Midshipmen get 6 overnight weekends per semester. It is always smart to use one of your weekends on a 3 day weekend because you get to spend Sunday night away from the Academy when your normally can’t.
Also note, that the commandant can award a weekend to Midshipmen at any time if he feels the Brigade is doing well. This happened twice last fall and once last spring.
