When I start college I am interested in joining the army rotc. However, I have not been able to find out if it is possible to be commissioned into the army as a cyber operations officer (17A) after graduation. This is assuming I will receive a scholarship. I will be pursuing a cyber security major in college and have always wanted to serve, so it would be a perfect fit. Any insight into how this works will greatly help me, even if it is not for the specific position.
Thank you!

A couple things..first, which branch (career field) you are assigned to is not determined until your senior year, so you could be assigned to Cyber branch, or Signal Corps, or you could be told that we need you to be a Field Artillery Officer. As a Cyber Officer you may or may not do what you think a Cyber Operations Officer does, so this early in your journey don’t get hung up on a particular job title. You need to understand that as a commissioned Army Officer you will be a mid level manager in our organization.

Hope that helps

Thank you, that helps a ton in understanding how this all works.
