Our DS has yet to be given a date for commissioning. Has any other parental units heard anything on commissioning dates. We are concerned because everything is booked up. Living 14 hours away is not so easy. We are now left with hotels 45 min away.

Our son is at Purdue. They commission on Friday and they have graduation ceremonies starting that Friday and ending Sunday. At least for Purdue, its the same weekend

That's pretty much the way it is all over, and hotels jack up their rates too when there's a big graduation weekend. We were late in figuring this out and ended up at an airport hotel. Another option is Air b&b, which Lt. Delahanty swears by, though I don,t know how far in advance they will take reservations

Commissioning is the night before graduation for DS. I booked the on campus hotel back in June for graduation in May. The rates weren't any higher. So excited!!

there is also VRBO.com, which I think is better than AirBnB. They will take reservations years in advance (depending on the owner of the rental) and do not bill until the rental actually happens.

DS also at Purdue. Not knowing exactly which of six degree program "divisions" over 3 days the Aero/Astro Engineering graduates will walk, we had to book a 4 day/3 night, Thursday through Sunday stay to cover commissioning and commencement.

We are flying in on Thursday, he commissions on Friday and graduates on Saturday. We leave on Sunday

Regarding Purdue: if things are still done the same there is a ROTC branch commissioning, an all services ceremony, and a college graduation.

Yes , Purdue still has the all service ceremony on Friday with graduation going from FridAy through Sunday depending on what your major is

Check the school’s graduation date. Likely the commissioning day will be the same weekend (plus/minus a day). However, he should really bring this up to the Cadre as I’m sure others in his class have the same question. He probably also knows when it was done in the past too!!

I reserved a house 2 years in advance for DS commissioning and graduation! I emailed the AirBNB landlord and he agreed to commit to us. This was in Ann Arbor MI; I imagine it will vary by person whether they are willing to reserve that far ahead.

DS started the ball rolling he spoke with the Mid that is in charge of setting this up. The date does not necessarily float with graduation; however, they try to keep it close. It would appear that this years commissioning will happen before graduation. At least some information is flowing.

DS is at a cross-town affiliate. Their commissioning is the Friday after the host school graduation, but ends up being the day before his school's ceremony. That works out well for us - Friday commissioning and Saturday graduation. We've got the hotel booked! My DS is SMP with a GRFD scholarship. He went to BCT at Fort Jackson the summer of 2016. His battle buddy from BCT is making plans to attend and could be giving DS his first salute!

Son was commissioned on USS Constitution in Boston Harbor days before graduation. Captain Phillips gave him his diploma days later at graduation. DD was commissioned the day we changed her shoulder boards at graduation. Purdue? I thought he was USNA? And a "mid" is doing the work not an offiucer?

Shoulder Boards for Butter Bars. at Graduation. As a former SGT I did like putting those on. I almost cried. Her only comment was get them right.

UW Madison also commissions around graduation. But the hotel thing is crazy, we have a couple hotel rooms (for grandparents and family) but they are crazy expensive and at 2 different hotels.

I just found out that commissioning and graduation for my son is on the same day. One in the morning and the other at night. It is going to be make for a long day. We reserved the room a year before graudation as all of the rooms near Purdue sell out and the price dramatically increase
