Basically I have a high chance of getting separated because of an upcoming academic board and I was wondering if I would still be able to commission through ROTC or OCS if I am kicked out for said board. From my understanding if you leave on your own it doesn't seem to be a problem, but I was wondering if it changes if you are "kicked out" even though it is nothing disciplinary. If I know my chances of getting kicked out are more than likely would it be best to just voluntarily leave before said board if I want to pursue a different path of commission?

A classmate of mine at The Citadel was separated from West Point for academic reasons and recently earned a 3 year on-campus AROTC scholarship. He didn't seem to have any trouble at all with his past record at USMA interfering with that process.

Good Luck Lolz777! Hopefully things work out OK for you with the upcoming Academic Review Board and if necessary later on with AROTC or AFROTC. Didn't you originally start with AROTC and then applied to USMA?

Keep in mind that a GPA low enough to cause you to be separated will likely be too low to make the active duty cut off.

Hope for the best, but if you get separated pay attention to your DD214. The reentry code on your DD214 determines if you can serve or not.

I'm facing a similar possibility for physical grades. Does the same apply in that case?

i would assume it would be the same. Does anyone know if we have to get a wavier. I heard that if you were prior ROTC or Academy and you want to do OCS you have to get a wavier so I was wondering if that applied for Academy to ROTC.

My friend whom I previously mentioned did not require a waiver. However, he enlisted in the national guard before enrolling in ROTC. He said by far the most frustrating part with signing his ROTC contract was all the paperwork and BS involved with his prior enlisted service. His West Point record wasn't even mentioned. Also, he was able to make it so none of his USMA grades transfered to The Citadel, so now he has a chance at Active Duty.
