Hello all, well its finally upon us! DS will commission in May and we need some guidance on uniforms. Looks like Marlow White is the way to go? I like the reviews .....“So easy even a Lt can do it!”. Too funny. Any input on uniforms would be appreciated by those of us embarking on this new adventure. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

My kids handled the whole process themselves but I do know they both used MW. I usually at least help with the research but wasn't involved with this process at all.

Just make sure you advise your cadet to order early. This way there is time to get replacements if there is any damage or size issues. Having the uniform earlier will make sure there is enough time to have them tailored and the accessories sewn on. The cadre will most likely let them know some options for tailoring in the area.

Son's battalion had someone that helped with the measurements and with the ordering, it's pretty easy for the cadet to handle on their own, the site is very user friendly and the Commissioning Package comes with everything they need except shoes if they want a new pair, also they can order the Bus Driver Hat (That's what my son called it) as an extra.

There is also an upgraded option that is available for the uniform and the shoulder bars, costs a bit more but really does look nice and better material.

If you live within driving distance of one of the MW locations, I do recommend making an appointment and ordering in the store. The Virginia location made the entire process as simple as can be. And I also second the upgrades. Well worth the extra $.

+1 Jcc, DS went and got measured at MW in VA and had all the alterations done there...super easy. Also agree get the better quality jacket and trousers...well worth it! One tip about commissioning before you pin those bars on, make sure those little tabs that attach the rank to the shoulders aren't flattened against the board, my wife had a heck of a time prying them up so she could put them on...took what seemed like forever.
Congratulations! What branch again?

Agree fully with this - Try to get fitted and tailored at a MW location unless you are near a large military installation with experienced tailors. An ill fitting uniform is a bad first impression and the cost for additional alterations is a pain.

MW will keep a record of your final sizing and this has come in handy when ordering additional dress shirts for delivery. Most won't need more than the commissioning package though. My DD wears class B's four days per week so additional shirts were necessary.

I went with Marlow White. They make the process easy and ensures you will have everything you need. Definitely order early to give time for alterations

Also, since your DS is FA, I'm not sure if it has changed, but all FA BOLC students were required to wear the bus driver cap.

Practice ahead of time in bad light.

We plan on ordering through MW in the next few weeks. Any opinions on the difference between the three commissioning packages -- professional, classic, or premium?

DS' PMS recommended premium, if u can afford it I think it's worth it.
