Words of wisdom for ROTC Scholarship winners & SA Appointees:

As you prepare to wind down your senior year of high school, don’t throw away your hard work by engaging in risky behavior or placing yourself in a situation where a wrong decision could result in having everything taken away from you.

My son wanted to go ice skating tonight. He’s been on ice skates ONCE in his life, on a family vacation way back in 2018. He’s sitting on NROTC, ROTC, & AFROTC Scholarships. He’s awaiting USNA & USCGA appointment decisions. The last thing he needs is to be sitting in an emergency room tonight because he’s been on ice skates only one other time in his life. His friends are all great kids, but none of them isn’t going to experience any real impact to their college & career aspirations if they take a bad spill on the ice tonight where they end up on crutches. My son has wisely chosen to sit this one out.

Enjoy the last few months of high school. Hang out with your friends. Continue to make lasting positive memories.

Start thinking like a Midshipman/Cadet/Junior Officer. Get comfortable conducting a risk analysis regarding your off-duty activities.

DoDMERB was bad enough getting a seasonal allergies waiver approved!

Couldn't agree more! I find myself regularly telling my DS to exercise caution.

The above pertains to choices you make online, as well. As in social media. Dont do dumb stuff there, either. Or get tagged doing dumb stuff.

There was an appointment revoked one year bc of social media posting.

Make good choices all around.

My contribution to this thread is; finish strong. Don't slack off. Sure, seven semesters of grades are in. Those last two report cards don't matter, do they?

There's a distinct line separating those who will fall in line with the average people and those who will lead in the military, industry, and the nation. Many of my seniors checked out mentally after we came back from winter break.

One of my Biotechnology students was personally presented her offer of appointment by the USMA superintendent himself a few days ago at an event in DC. She brought it in to show me the nice certificate. She's always triple tasking, working on other assignments while keeping up with mine while she continues her extracurriculars and other obligations. She's a bad azz.
