Communicating with regional admissions officer

I know I may sound like an eager applicant(which many of us are), but I was wondering in what way are we allowed to communicate with our admissions officer. I've heard things from "don't contact them asking about your application once it's completed because they can't tell you anything" to "if you ask they can tell you when your package is going in front of the board" to "they can tell you if your 3 Q'd" (keep in mind these aren't direct quotes).

I would really like to hear anything at all from my admissions officer, but I definitely don't want to appear rude or take too much time out of their busy day. Thank you!

Wish I could like USNA1985's response more than once...Same goes for contacting your BGO. It's a waiting game ...be patient ! Seems I have received more inquiries from Candidates than normal, and several appear to be generated because of things the Candidate sees on forums like this.

I understand. It's really hard to wait, especially with my medical dq! I have heard that I won't get an appointment until May because of it (if I do receive one). I guess I'll just keep working hard and prepare for plan b. Thank you anyways!

Again a rumor that you won't hear until May. You could hear any day. USNA could offer you an LOA while awaiting a medical waiver. Last year there was a candidate that got one around this time and didn't get the Q until late May timeframe. Ignore rumors. Prepare in your head to wait it out until April 15th. In the last few years only a few candidates heard by this date and admissions was in contact with them.

You are always free to communicate. However, at this point, there is little your admissions officer will likely be able to tell you other than that they are in the process of reviewing records and there's nothing to do but wait.

Yep, times about 1,000.

DD called his BGO and left an introduction message. No reply yet, but expected since it's so early for Class of '22. Hurry up and wait!

Remember that sometimes they haven't updated records and BGO's can change. My DS original BGO assignment had already graduated from NPS and was stationed in RI already.
So once your DS is accepted as a candidate and issued his BGO, make sure it's the same person.
