Company and Alpha Code

I have submitted all of my PTR information and am wondering when I will know my company and mailing address for plebe summer, and when will I know my alpha code. Is all of that given to me on I-Day, or will I notified of all that in advance?

I do not believe this information will be available until I-Day.
 
The mailing address doesn't change. Just need your plebe summer company and platoon. Get those all I Day. Used to be the first station in Alumni Hall.
 
You should receive your company info prior to IDay. The alpha code will be given on IDay.
 
DS received his company assignment about a week before IDay. The alpha code was on IDay
 
Did I read somewhere that most will keep same company after PS, or most will get moved?
 
They will remain in the same company after PS. The difference is the number you associate with their platoon during PS will become their company. During PS they combine two platoons to make a company. So there are 15 companies during PS and 30 platoons. So Alpha company will have 1st and 2nd platoon. During the academic year the Alpha part disappears, it's just 1st and 2nd company.
 
If this info is available a week prior to I day, how do they find out? Is it sent to them in email? On portal?
 
DS received an email addressed "Dear parent or guardian of a member of the Class of 2019" on Jun 3 that included his company and platoon, and mailing address during plebe summer. As I understand it, the platoon is the company when the school year begins.
 
Honestly it's not a big deal. Knowing the company and platoon allows packages to be dropped in the mail ASAP. He will get alpha code the moment he walks in the door and write it a hundred times before he is even in white works. Heck it wasn't that long ago none use knew any of this info before we reported.
 
Totally natural. For so long I Day seemed like it would never get there, then all of a sudden it's here. Most kids get that way. I was one of those who only had a few days between graduation and I Day, so I had been kept pretty busy. I wish I had a much longer break, but it did keep my mind off things.

As much as these boards are great, they can sort of have the opposite effect too. Since none of this existed for us, what we didn't know, we simply didn't know!
 
Can someone confirm if "alpha code" refers to their PS company or their unique identifier while at the Academy (example: P123456)? I have seen two different uses of this term. Thanks.
 
No has nothing to do with company or platoon. It will be m19xxxx.

M stands for Mid
19 is class year
The next four are a 4 digit number. It is done alphabetically.

Everything they own will eventually have this number on it. Every grad regardless of year can yell this number out without a second thought.
 
Be careful, they might just start shouting it out like when they hit a bulkhead! Then it's a hot mess!
