Company information for plebe summer

Seems that very few 2023s have received company assignment. No news from here in Chicago. Anyone else? How is notification provided - portal, email or mail.

No news here out west. I think it's supposed to be email

Have most '23ers heard about company assignments yet?
I'm an upcoming plebe, and I have not heard about my company yet. However, I believe only Alpha Company (1st and 2nd platoon) know.

I’m so excited for you all!! Best wishes. Hopefully you will check back in here and let us know how things are going over the years! We may not know you, but we are cheering for you collectively USNA ‘23!!

You will realize as you proceed in your career at Navy that they follow a “just in time” model with regard to information dissemination. That’s true of the detailers too to some extent. I dropped my Firstie son off today and there is much he does not yet know about what he’ll be doing on Thursday. Good luck to everyone. You’ll get what you need when you need it.

This is so true. You learn to role with it. One day your orders will say Virginia and the next week it might say Japan. It happens all the time. The great part of USNA... you are accustomed to this by the time you commission and it’s just a way of life.

So true. For DD's youngster cruise, she was going to a DDG based in Japan one day, then an LSD based in San Diego the next day. Literally...plans changed in less than 24 hours. She was going to return via Santa Barbara one day, then via San Diego the next day. That's just how it goes.

Excellent training for the realities of the Fleet and Corps.

DH and I had just gotten married, had carefully coordinated PCS dates and orders. He was going to NAS Alameda, I was going to NPS Monterey, we were going to find a place halfway between to rent. He PCS’ed off NIMITZ, had an urgent message to call his detailer. He was now going to San Diego. Geo-bachelorship the first two years we were married.

I was told I was going to Joint or Navy Staff after my USNA tour, so we bought a house in Annapolis. Of course, I got orders (the kind that are so good, you don’t quibble) two weeks after we closed, to Norfolk. Geo-bachelorship again.

Countless instances of this, both small and big.

You just learn to utter a “cheery aye-aye” and adapt on the fly. Years later, in my corporate career, non-vets are always somewhat surprised by how good military folks are at switching plans, operations, goals, etc., and swiftly changing course.

I was told you won’t find out until IDay now

Admissions said they're having technical difficulties on their end and we may not find out our companies and platoons until I-Day.

DS just received his company assignment. Hoping the rest are emailed today!

I received an email about 20 minutes ago with the information, and I know three others also learned their company assignments this morning.
