Hi all,

I'm a junior getting ready to head out to USAFA Summer Seminar at the end of the month and am really excited to get started with this process!

I checked my online application today and it listed:
Your Status: Applicant* (your application is under consideration)
Your Application is: Competitive

This is fairly good news, I'm gathering from online searches. I've taken the SAT once, but USAFA doesn't have those scores yet..do they list applicants as competitive without those scores? If they don't like my SAT scores, would they change me to non-competitive?

Also, I'm taking the ACT in June. Unfortunately, the June SAT date is the last day of Summer Seminar. Should I try and take the SAT in Colorado Springs, or will I be too exhausted to do well?

You have until January to take as many SATs/ACTs as you like. I wouldn't do it in Colorado Springs, that would ruin the trip.

The "Competitive" is based on the information you give them. Once they've reviewed your application and taken a look at your grades/ACT/SAT scores and all that, they will then keep your application as competitive or deem it not competitive.:thumb:

No. The last day of summer seminar is so intense--pre-dawn wake-up by cadre pounding on your door, a late bedtime the night before, studying the knowledge for "Doolie Day"- you'll be sore walking to the car, let alone gearing up to take a test. :) This I know from my own kid's participation, an athlete in good shape.

As for your question, they do take the PSAT scores into account if you had no SAT/ACT yet, so if you gave them those, it was what they based the "competitive" on. Good luck! That's a nice start!

Haha, we're in the EXACT same situation. I also just took the SAT this past saturday, and am also heading out to SS and taking the ACT June 11. But in response to your question, we'll probably get back home June 10 in the afternoon, so if you go home and relax, you should be fine. Which SS session are you attending?

i went to the summer seminar last year and as someone already said afterwards you will be exhausted i promise. You have plenty of time to take the SAT at a later date prior to January, i would not worry about the one in June.

Awesome, thank you all. :) I'm even more excited for Summer Seminar (I'll be in the first session), and it's good to know some of the other applicants haven't taken the SAT 2+ times yet.
