Which states are considered most competitve and which are not? I was told that FL, MD, and CA are all very competitve how do other states comapre? Is the midwest competitive?

Texas, VA, NJ just to name a few. Really comes down to how competitive each district is.

I can't answer the question about other states but I do know that often times it depends on the composition of the slate you are on the year that you are nominated.

Just look at where the highest concentration of navy installations lie. I live fifteen minutes from naval station norfolk so as you could imagine it's quite competitive around here.

This gets asked a lot, but the reality is you can only apply to NOM's in the state where you legally reside. Therefore, comparing the 'difficulty' of one state to another regarding NOM's really has NO bearing on an individual candidate. Are you less likely to apply if we say you live in a 'competitive' state???

Better to assume all aspects of the application process are competitive and focus on other things.

I don't know if ALL of FL is competitive but my area sure is. There are 4 kids that I know of in my county, 2 already have LOAs and 2 are athletic recruits. One LOA is for Westpoint and 2 of the recruits are for AFA, my son is NA
