Hello everyone,

Obviously the NROTC scholarship is a very very competitive scholarship, but I was wondering if there were significant differences between the 4 year scholarship app as a senior vs as a senior. One other question is whether I will need to redo my interview, and if it will be with my hometown OSO, or with my unit staff.

Thank you

Not sure what you mean when you say "4 year scholarship app as a senior vs as a senior"

I assume you are talking Marine Option when you mention OSO.

Have you already gone through the process once?

My apologies, I meant to say 4 year scholorship as a senior vs as a college freshman. And yes, it is MO. I have not gone through the process yet, but am just wondering if there are any differences in terms of competitiveness and, like I said, procedure.

Procedure is essentially the same as I understand it. You might seek input from your Marine Officer Instructor (I assume you're in NROTC as a college programmer). In any case the application is a good discussion topic with the MOI. They may wait to decide until your first semester transcript is available. Subsequent applications, called sideloads, are very different applications and must be endorsed by the MOI and PNS.

My son went thru the process twice. He rec'd the 4 year scholarship (which really worked out to 3) on the first board his freshman year of college. He was also lined up for sideload.

Long advice short: Give yourself as many avenues for scholarship as you can -- as well as having multiple backup plans in place.
