My sons application status page now says "conditional". This is the good news right?

kpwehope, congrats to your son & the entire family! Be sure son updates his nominating sources with the good news when it arrives in hard copy. GO KP!

conditional status???

Hi - I was hoping for some clarification. My application status now says "conditional" - is this good or a problem?

I have my nomination interviews coming up with one of my US Senators (have not heard about the other yet) and my Congressman. Should I let them know about the conditional status?

Thanks for any information you can share with me. This is a very confusing and nerve wracking process.

"Conditional" is good news, an LOA is on the way! Congrats to you!!!! My sons status changed today from "conditional" to "principal" under nomination it now says "yes", we don't even know who nominated him yet. He is all clear with Dodmerb so I think everything is done!

So when his USCGA appointment comes in December, which one will he choose?

Kings Point or New London?

Wow, that would certainly be a great problem to have! I know your son had that decision to make, and I assume he is happy with his choice? What made up his mind for him? My son has until recently said that USMMA was his first choice, but after his interview with the USCGA he said that if he somehow got into both it would be a very hard choice to make. He met a USMMA grad that is now in the Coast Guard, and he had high praises for USMMA but also LOVES the Coast Guard. Well I guess we will see what December brings. I would love to hear your and your sons views on both academies.

Having the problem of deciding between multiple Academies is definately an envious problem to have. It can be a very tough decision to make and one that should not be taken lightly.

I of course will vouch for Kings Point because you can still do the other things after graduating from USMMA as opposed to being limited to CG from USCGA (with few exceptions).

On Friday when my son got home from school there was a message on the answering machine from his MOC, he returned the call and the MOC told him congrats, and that he was giving him his nomination. Son was quite excited, then a few minutes later the doorbell rings, it's Fed Ex with his BEAUTIFUL blue folder! Within 5 minutes he had signed his acceptance form, so it's KP for him. He always said KP was his first choice, so he decided not to wait to hear from the USCGA, he wants KP. I am so very proud and excited for him.

2Q question

I have a question that no one is willing to answer. I recently got my LOA and I am qualified in all areas for the academy, I also recently got interviewed my my MOC and I think it went great. What are my chances of getting a nomination keep in mind I do live in Dallas and I think the competition is stiff. I am nearly having a heart attack please someone give me an answer.
PS. I am 3Q'd

Having an LOA is great and you SHOULD fax it to your MOC and Senators ASAP (call them as a heads up too). I'm not sure of this but, as long as the interview went fine, it seems easier for them to nominate a candidate with an LOA (just a wild guess).

We are also from the DFW area (Denton). My son had a great interview with Burgess' selection board. He got notified of his nomination last week.

Good luck!!

USMMA nominations are statewide, not based on Congressional district (or your city). Any MOC from Texas can nominate you, not just the Rep from Dallas.

The chances of getting a nomination are very good. :thumb:
