I went on an official athletic visit six weeks ago and have kept in contact with the coach since then. I’ve gathered that basically the pecking order of recruits was going to be decided soon. This week I received a thank you note from the plebes on the team thanking me for visiting and stating they hope I can see myself wearing the uniform , but yet I haven’t heard from the coach yet. I noticed another recruit gave a “verbal commitment.”
Was this just a thank you note or some sign? Am I reading too much into it? I’ve had everything in my portal completed since July including my medical qualification. My MOC interviews are scheduled. I just wondering if I’m putting too much on this note from the team. Thanks!

Don't overthink things... I would take the message from the members of the team as a good sign that you aren't forgotten. However, if you are contemplating going to USNA and serving in the Navy, there are two principles you should learn and understand: 1) Patience -- delays are inevitable; and 2) Needs of the Navy will trump everything.

Good advice. Thank you!

An NCAA official visit is always a good sign. As you stated there is a pecking order even within those. I wouldn’t read too much into it. Coaches could be super busy on the road this time of year or if in season just keeping their heads above water. Best of luck!

It’s hard to see and hear classmates “committing”. Recruiting is exciting and stressful. I am a Mom who went through it with DS last year. I remember. Remember that sometimes what you hear from classmates it not always
the whole picture. Sometimes it is a flat out lie. Stay humble. Stay amazing. Stay focused. You do you. Stay off Twitter (“blessed to receive my 6th offer to xxx”. Yuck). But I get it.

Also academies do things differently as you know. Verbal commitments mean nothing, are not binding. So your friend could be puffing, or interpreting a convo with a coach in a way that in reality means nothing.

One thing DS realized when he got to USNA, is there are a LOT of really cool sports opportunities! So even if he got cut from his sport, he was good! Keep us updated and best of luck!
