DS applied last year, received MOC nom, approved by DoDMERB, passed CFA, Did not earn an appointment.

This year, DoDMERB asked for us to send any updates to his medical record. Upon review, he was determined to have an issue that DodMERB found to be disqualifying. His understanding upon asking multiple sources is that DodMERB regularly issues disqualifications, BUT, that is a separate process to admissions. He had been told that if he is found to be academically worthy, among the other necessities, USNA will investigate and decide whether or not to grant a waiver. IT IS IN THEIR HANDS. He was also told that DoDMERB Physicals were good for 2 years, and that he would not have to have another one conducted for this application year. Last year, he received explicit instructions on who to call and where to obtain his physical and eye exams. This year we did not.

He recently checked the portal and found this verbatum:

"Our records indicate you have completed the required documents for your application to be reviewed. However, you will still need to ensure we receive final determination of your medical examination/nomination from a qualified nomination source."

I get the NOM thing, but what are they asking for when they say "However, you will still need to ensure we receive final determination of your medical examination" Does he need to obtain another physical? Is that in any way and action item for him?

Thank you in advance!

Recommend you call USNA direct and sort it out directly
Admissions has written to him in the last couple of weeks and said he is complete except for waiver. DoDMERB has said it is in USNA hands now. I know he needs to reengage with them, I was wondering if this made sense to anyone prior to his phone call.

Just for follow-up, admissions said there were no action items on his part, despite the way it was written. The good news is that he found out yesterday he has received an MOC nom; it is now completely out of his hands, and in His hands!
