Confusion about Nominations

I am somewhat confused by the nomination process and hope that someone here can clarify.

My DD received an LOA and received nominations from our congressman and one of the senators. However, neither the email from the congressman nor the letter from the senator say anything about being a principal; they also don't have anything about ranked or unranked slates. My understanding is that if someone is ranked higher than DD on both nomination slates then she still has not received the nomination that will allow her to receive an appointment. Is this correct? How do we find out whether the DD was a principal or her rank if she was not the principal?
 
To find out if she was principal you can contact the congressman and senator. But as she has a LOA all she needs is to meet the conditions of the LOA and she will receive the appointment. They will work out who she is charged to as there are magical nominations from the superintendent and other sources you can not apply for but USNA may use on her. As long as she meets the requirements layed out in the LOA she will get the appointment. The principal nomination and winning a slate is more important to candidates without a LOA. It sounds like she is all set Congratulations.
 
Congrats on nominations. Have DD call the MOC offices and ask if it was principal, ranked slate, or unranked slate. They may also tell you how she ranked within their pool. CA- 48 did not do principal and DS was told he was top ranked within their pool of kids who wanted USNA first. We still don't know if they submitted a ranked or unranked slate. He received nom on 11/28 and appointment 12/23.

Thank you for your response. I just want to clarify... Are you saying that because DD has an LOA, she needs not worry about nominations? That is, if other appointees get charged to the congressman and the senator ahead of DD then the USNA will use one of their magical nominations on her? If that is case, why are there people on this forum who are worried because they did not get the nomination even though they already had an LOA? Wouldn't that be the same case?
 
I agree with the poster NotCollege above. She doesn't need to worry about whether she has a principal nomination or ranked. All she needs is a nomination given that she has an LOA. The principal nomination business is something for applications without an LOA to worry about. She should be all set, assuming all other conditions are met.
